We went on a cycle ride along the old railway track from Scarborough to Heyburn Wyke. It was windy, muddy, and wonderful. For a report in the local press, Click Here
We worked towards the Cub Scout Astronomer badge and invited the famous astronomer and broadcaster John Harper over to amaze us with a tour around the Universe.
We went down to the library to find out about how books are organised, and how to find out more about astronomy.
We heard from Helen Giles, one of the Churchwardens at the Priory about the “Living Churchyard” project, and made to go up in the churchyard grounds.
We held the 2008 Bridlington Beauty Competition to the amazement of the morning congregation at the Priory who thought they had come to an act of worship ... and then discovered that they had.
On a Tuesday Pack night we went up the bell tower of the Priory where Tony the Chippie showed us how to ring the great Priory bells. We startled the inhabitants of sleepy old Bridlington by having a go ourselves. Even if we did not sound quite as good as the proper bell ringers, we got at least as much pleasure from the exercise as they did.
We went down to one of the local allotments to clear rubbish out of wasteland which is to be taken over by some pensioners. We made a fire to burn some of the rubbish, and then walked on to another site where Dexter showed us round some of his hen yards. We saw hens in sheds, hens in runs, and hens in caravans. See article in Bridlington Free Press He gave us more than 20 eggs for us to try to hatch ... more about this later.
We then went for a 5-mile hike along footpaths to the beach where we held some mini- Olympics.
